Kyls Burtland: Creative Director & Composer
Kyls Burtland is highly experienced, multi-awarded screen composer. Having won ‘Best Score‘ upon graduation from AFTRS in 2002, she was nominated for Emerging Talent of the Year, ’03 by Margaret Pomeranz & the Film Critics Circle.
Kyls is best known for writing the ABC TV Rebrand Theme, for which she won a Gold Promax in 2007 in New York. Kyls has composed music for and project-managed the sound post-production for 42 films and documentaries, 17 TV series, and 250 TVCs.

The feature-length thriller ‘Touch’, which premiered at this year’s Sydney Film Festival staring Matt Day and Lianna Walshman.
In 2013, with her long-time collaborator, Josh Wermut, Kyls created a score for the spectacular VIVID: Light The Sails installation – projections on the Opera House sails for VIVID Festival.
Power and the Passion – The Whitlam Story’, a two part documentary for ABC, 2013; ‘Brilliant Creatures’ a two part documentary for BBC airing later in 2014, about Australia’s expat intelligensia in the 60s.

Kyls has also composed music for large-scale international cross-media installations. The music for ‘Shanghai Pavilion, World Expo 2010′, included a 40 min walk-through interactive experience concluding with a 25 min IMAX film for full orchestra and Chinese instruments;

As a music producer and creative, Josh Wermut's focus on refined aesthetics combined with his vast experience drives the quality of his work in finding the core identity within each project.
Josh has deep roots in the rich history of music. His formative years as an engineer and musician, saw him work with some of the industries pioneers. This balanced with a passion for progressive music, technology and new hybrid genres has seen Josh become a sought after producer, engineer and writer for cutting edge artists worldwide.
As a sound designer, Josh provides high end sound for large-scale corporate installations and advertising.
His recent works includes composition, sound design and mixing for VIVID Festival’s ‘Light The Sails’ 2013. A 15 minute major audio work of mixed-genre music and sound design underscoring Multi-spacial Augmented Reality projections on the side of the Sydney Opera House. Heard from forty speakers around Circular Quay for 18 consecutive nights, it was the centre-piece of the festival.
In 2014, Josh collaborated with screen composer Kyls Burtland on the feature film ‘Touch’ to create the musical sound design elements of the score.’Touch’ starred Matt Day and recently premiered at the Sydney Film Festival.
Josh composes and mixes for wide range of TV series such as Bondi Rescue, Shane Delia’s Food Safari, Recruits, as well as providing music and sound for such companies as Spinifex Media, Disney, Essential Media & SBS in genres that range from children’s TV to drama and comedy.
All Heavenly Antennas scores and tracks are mixed with Josh’s refined aesthetic, and he drives the sonic quality of this company.
Heavenly Antenna’s studio home-base is in Surry Hills. The studio combines cutting edge digital recording with a collection of traditional, classic, modern and some awesome analogue keyboards, and other unusual instruments. The live room is perfect for fat drum sounds and rich vocals. The studio is available for voice-over work, mixing, sound design, film-scores and recording of all kinds, and is close to Crown Street’s bars, cafes, restaurants and transport. With in-house mixers and multi-instrumentalist, all your needs can be catered for.
